Sit Quietly in a Room for 45 Minutes
Sit Quietly in a Room for 45 Minutes
“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone” – Blaise Pascal
Consider this exercise a onetime exploration — a philosophical experiment in unplugging and listening in.
- Set an alarm for 45 minutes. If you must use your cell phone put it on airplane mode. Turn off all other electronic devices.
- Get a notebook and pen. If something critical comes to mind that you don’t want to forget, quickly jot it down. This is not a writing exercise. Only write as a last resort.
- Get comfortable.
- Take a deep breath.
- Begin.
After your alarm goes off, pause and reflect on what this exercise has to do with your job search and your current approach. What happened?
Are you craving more quiet? Go on a Trip Alone
